Julia Eccleshare's comment:

Reading age 7, interest age 12+. Hard hitting and angry in tone but with a sensitive massage underneath, Dead Men Don’t Talk captures Alan’s immense rage following the death of his father and how, helped by something rather supernatural, he begins to come to terms with it. Catherine Forde speaks directly to teenagers in this simple written but powerful story.

Without exception dyslexia-friendly books published by Barrington Stoke get off to an exciting start and maintain the impetus throughout, with a cliffhanger at the end of every chapter.  The plot is clear, the characters appealing and there are plenty of visual clues, as dyslexics like to run a story like a video in their heads.

About The Author

Catherine Forde is one of Egmont's new star authors. Her first Egmont book, Fat Boy Swim, received critical acclaim for its honest portrayal of growing up in today's world: 'Fat Boy Swim should be force-fed to every secondary chool child in the country', said Dinah Hall (Sunday Telegraph).

Before turning to writing full time, she worked as a lexicographer for Collins and taught in secondary schools. She currently lives in Glasgow with her husband and two sons. Catherine's next novel, Skarrs, is published this August.
