Born in former East Berlin, Marie spent her childhood painting, acting, writing and wanting to save the world. Or be an actress, a painter or a filmmaker. But with degrees in Multimedia Technology and Marketing she got various jobs in TV, advertising, branding, events and graphic & web design, but nothing ever felt quite right. That was until Marie realised that making picture books allows her to combine all her passions and skills in the most fulfilling way. Following some very intense years of self-directed author/illustrator training and self-discovery, Marie is finally back where she started, but better. Because with picture books she gets to be a writer and a director, an actress and a painter all in one. And this time she knows it’s exactly what she should be doing.
Shortlisted for the Children's Book Award 2020 | A thoughtful and entertaining story about togetherness and inclusion. In a divided world of cats and dogs - where dogs only play dog music and cats only play cat music - one little dog chooses to follow the music in his heart, and that means jamming with the cats!
Longlisted for the UKLA Book Awards 2020 | Shortlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize 2019 | Red’s mum tells her to follow the heart flowers on the safe path through the city when she sets off to deliver a cake to her grandmother. But the wolfish city soon draws her in and Red is lost. It is only when she remembers what is important to her that she can find her way again. This retelling has a strong contemporary feel.
