LoveReading View on Never Say Die

Simply the best action-packed, stylish adventure and escapism

Anthony Horowitz’s announcement that he was writing a new Alex Rider book was one of the best bits of literary news of the last year. Now the book is here, and Never Say Die sees Alex Rider at his daring best. After the shocking climax to Scorpia Rising Alex is living in San Francisco with his friend Sabina’s family. When he receives a cryptic email implying his guardian Jack Starbright may still be alive Alex is on a plane to Cairo in no time following up the lead. The adventure brings him back up against his enemies the Grimaldis, and Mrs Jones of MI6 reappears too. To describe the action as fast-paced is an understatement but there’s always time for sardonic humour. The fight scenes of course are superb. For adrenaline-filled, addictive adventure, Alex Rider is unbeatable, and it’s great to have him back.

There are nine other Alex Rider books, all excellent, and readers should also look at Steve Cole’s Young Bond books.

More About This Book

Anthony Horowitz says - "It's been five weeks since Alex left England at the end of SCORPIA RISING, and the new chapter finds him living with Sabina's family in San Francisco. As you'll see, things aren't going very well for him. I'm not giving too much of the plot away but I will tell you that by the end of this chapter, everything has changed. Something happens that forces Alex to leave American and head back east - starting with Cairo. There are some old friends, but also some old enemies, waiting for him. As always, there's plenty of action."

Never Say Die Press Reviews

Never Say Die is one of the most dramatically ambitious of the novels so far... The suspense never slackens and the plot, even at its most far-fetched, is underpinned with nerdishly forensic detail, which has an irresistible how stuff works appeal.  The Daily Telegraph

The Alex Rider stories are action adventures about defeating cartoon villains who are intent on global domination, but, although Alex is brave and athletic, what really makes him and the books special is his ingenuity... The series not only has explosions and chases: it shows that cleverness can win. * The Sunday Times, Children's Book of the Week *

Readers who like their adventure action packed will love the new Alex Rider novel, Never Say Die, by Anthony Horowitz. Our favourite teen spy whizzes around the world, from San Francisco to Egypt, at breakneck speed. * Irish Independent *

Anthony Horowitz is second to none when it comes to writing page-turners so his fans will be thrilled to read the new Alex Rider novel. * Daily Express *

This latest story is as exciting as its predecessors. An unputdownable read with breath-taking action and enough clever plot twists to make the reader dizzy. * Primary Times
