Julia Eccleshare's comment

Shortlisted for the UKLA 2016 Book Award in the 3 - 6 year old category.

April 2015 Book of the Month - Longlisted for the 2015 CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal  Award-winning illustrator Rebecca Cobb creates a number of different imaginary worlds in this delightfully fanciful story about a hole in the ground. The little girl finds the hole just beside the cherry tree. Who could live in it? Could it be frogs, mice, a badger or a troll or a dragon? Everyone has a different idea and the little girl and her dog sit and watch patiently so can be the very first to see! Full of charm, the imaginative scope of the story is quietly inspirational.

Synopsis

The Something by Rebecca Cobb

Underneath the cherry tree in our garden there is a little hole...A glorious imaginative adventure from the award-winning creator of Aunt Amelia and Lunchtime.

When a little boy's ball disappears down a mysterious hole in the garden, he can't stop thinking about what could be down there - a little mouse's house? The lair of a hungry troll? Or maybe even a dragon's den. Whatever it may be, he's determined to find out!
